in above syntax, ssize_t typedef. signed data type defined in stddef.h. note write() not return unsigned value; returns -1 if error occurs must return signed value.


the write function returns number of bytes written array, may @ times less specified nbytes. returns -1 if exceptional condition encountered, see section on errors below.
