in 1994, iron wolf appeared in movie richie rich richie s backyard roller coaster.
on august 5, 2011, 6 flags great america announced on official facebook page iron wolf closed on september 5, 2011: after long 21 year history @ park, removing iron wolf. make sure last rides in – iron wolf’s last stand september 5 . last stand reference slogan afforded apocalypse.
six flags america (2012–present)
on august 22, 2011, 6 flags america announced on facebook page adding new attraction in 2012. day, park began remove burnt pieces envelope each days leading official announcement on september 1, 2011. on september 1, 2011, 6 flags america announced adding apocalypse in 2012.
iron wolf closed on september 5, 2011, , work began on preparing transport new location. new owners planned add roller coaster skull island section of park, before relocation take place, skull mountain ride @ 6 flags america had closed , demolished make room new attraction. construction coaster continued until end of march 2012 when final piece of track installed.
the official facebook page 6 flags america had stated ride officially open on may 25, 2012, later changed june 7, 2012.
