ray (also known marco), played david kennedy, arrives in walford track down ex-lover carla mitchell (christianne oliveira), had left him in brazil return husband grant (ross kemp). carla had been having affair ray while married grant. followed carla walford reclaim £12,000 carla had stolen him, carla has sex him, telling him can together. however, ray tells carla still needs £12,000 back. goes grant , tells him needs £25,000 pay off ray.

the next day, grant , brother phil (steve mcfadden) visit ray, tells them needs £12,000. when grant discovers carla has lied him distraught, giving ray opportunity run hotel room. phil goes after him, , while gone grant smashes room baseball bat. after smashing chest of drawers, grant finds ray s passport, giving false name, marco. ray next seen being pulled boot of phil s jaguar grant outside queen victoria pub. grant realises criminal, , gives him small amount of money , passport, directing him tube station, telling him never return. ray s last appearance.
