the second ka-zar started similar character, reminiscent of both tarzan , of writer-artist joe kubert s 1950s caveman character, tor. created stan lee , jack kirby in x-men #10 (march 1965), lives in dinosaur-populated savage land, hidden beneath antarctica extraterrestrials. character based on pulp magazine namesake extent used same name , rough jungle lord concept, , lee has admitted had never read of original ka-zar stories.

ka-zar s first solo story published in marvel super-heroes #19 (1969), , character had features in black-and-white magazine savage tales , color title astonishing tales. has had 5 self-titled series, first published in 1970–1971 (three issues, reprints), second, (which continued storyline astonishing tales) in 1974-1977 (20 issues, subtitled lord of hidden jungle) mike friedrich, gerry conway, , doug moench, third in 1981-1984 (ka-zar savage, 34 issues) bruce jones , mike carlin, fourth in 1997-1998 (20 issues) written mark waid. , fifth in 2011 (5 issue miniseries) written paul jenkins.
