the deer in grove


this large meadow occupies of north west of college s grounds, new buildings , grove quad holywell ford. during winter , spring, home of herd of fallow deer. possible view meadow (and deer) path between new buildings , grove quad, , archway in new buildings.


in 16th century, long before introduction of deer, grove consisted of gardens, orchards, , bowling greens. during civil war, used house regiment of soldiers. @ 1 point in 19th century home 3 traction engines belonging works department of college. 20th century had become well-wooded many large trees, of them lost dutch elm disease in 1970s.
