although parish now, joroan still had several issues. decree no guarantee image in joroan s possession, committee organised purpose of appealing bishop mcginley decree s revision , removal of clause “except span of fifteen days”. mcginley rejected request further stating decree part of terms of agreement elevation of joroan status of parish, , representatives signed it.


rising tensions

to prevent future violence, bishop mcginley on 18 august 1920 declared that:



to keep ardour of same marian devotion in tiwi , prevent further tensions, mcginley permitted creation of replica tiwi. original image has been permanently enshrined in joroan since 1920.
