employment

lorant s subsequent falconry career in hungary documented in memoirs. mirrors growing awareness of importance of wildlife issues in general , falconry in particular. in 1939, lorant founded hungarian falconry association, in served falcon master. regrettably shortly after formation, world war ii , 4 years in hungarian army postponed career path.


in 1950 established magyar sólymász egyesület (hungarian birds of prey centre), affiliated budapest zoo. such success of school, lorant appointed head of aviary section and, in 1953, curator of zoo.


lorant , george lelovich convinced hungarian ministry of agriculture adopt new pest control methods. shooting, damaged rice crops , fish in shallow waters, superseded hawking. fish farmers taught control herons falcons flown @ them horseback. hawks employed protect vineyards. through work, raptors elevated level of verminous pests of valid assets in environment. after learning of craft men employed british falconer, in strange twist of fate lorant return favour. following hungarian uprising in 1956, moved great britain, play major role in revitalizing interest in british falconry.
