1994 expansion

in 1994, hotel expanded 30-storey tower of similar architectural style existing building. facade of existing hotel building preserved, including forecourt, lobby , front facade. hotel remained in operation while construction took place.


the new peninsula tower topped helipad, 1 of 2 private rooftop helipads in territory. other located on top of shun tak centre. used transport vip guests hong kong international airport, seven-minute flight away. total number of rooms increased 300 addition of 132 rooms , suites. other new features included 10 floors of office space, shops , hotel facilities.


2012 refurbishment

to celebrate hotel s 85th anniversary in april 2013, launched hk$450 million refurbishment programme. in september 2012, first phase of peninsula tower completed. new features includes digital enhancements ranging touch-screen tablets, dvd library of 3d movies high-definition televisions. decor of rooms in pared-down oriental chic, plain cream upholstery, vintage luggage-inspired drawer handles , chinese ink painting-inspired ornaments. renovation did not include iconic lobby, restaurants , bars remained unchanged.
