the loyola men s soccer team has consistently proven 1 of successful teams in athletic department. since 1965, team has suffered 4 losing seasons. team perennial power in maac , has reached ncaa division national tournament 7 times since joining division in 1979, including quarterfinal appearances in 1986 , 1987 , sweet 16 appearance in 2001. loyola enjoyed undefeated regular season in 2008 before being upset in second round of ncaa tournament. former greyhounds include 2009 major league soccer goalkeeper of year, zach thornton many others have played in mls , other professional leagues.
