in 1966, preservationists formed historic rugby, non-profit group dedicated restoring , maintaining community s surviving historic structures, include christ church episcopal, thomas hughes library, rugby school, kingstone lisle, uffington house, , newbury house. group has reconstructed several buildings based on original designs, including board of aid office, rugby commissary, , sir henry kimber s percy cottage. harrow road cafe, restaurant built in 1980s, named restaurant existed @ rugby in 1880s, although original design unknown. rugby printing works, stood @ nearby deer lodge, moved rugby in 1970s. historic rugby opened community s beacon hill area (originally planned include residences , park) new home construction, condition new homes must designed in accordance community s victorian aesthetic.
