first generation (2007–2013)

the first generation i10 had world premiere on 31 october 2007, in new delhi, india. produced in india @ hyundai s chennai plant domestic , export markets.

in europe, has 4 different versions: classic, style, comfort , eco blue version, smaller 1.0 litre engine. versions come front electric windows, abs, air conditioning , rds radio/cd player.

background

hyundai started development of i10 replace hyundai atos, known santro. development concept codenamed hyundai pa. car targeted @ indian market , intended production in india, given popularity of hatchback subcompacts in country.

styling

pre-facelift hyundai i10

the i10 has large gaping air dam, pulled-back headlamps, chrome lined grill, integrated clear lens fog lamps, bonnet has clam shell hint , rear window swept kink.

interior

the tailgate has chrome lined boot release handle, , integrated roof spoiler on top end versions.

overall length (3,565 mm) , wheelbase (2,380 mm) identical santro more interior space; ergonomic design intended accommodate tall drivers , increasing rear knee room. width has been increased (and front , rear track) 70 mm (2.8 in) more shoulder room. height has been reduced 40 mm (1.6 in). boot space @ 225 litres (7.9 cu ft) lower of getz.

hyundai introduced new front end design inspired fluidic sculpture design language. centrepiece new radiator grill features chrome detailing. boasts bracing set of 3d wraparound headlamps multi reflector chrome surround fog lamps. bumpers have been redesigned new front grille lend more aggressive look.

it features micro roof antenna, body colour door handles , side indicator lights incorporated on outside rear view mirror. rear of new i10 boasts of sleek , elongated tail lamps, bold rear bumper body coloured inserts rear bumper reflectors , trendy full wheel cover.

interiors

the new i10 has 2 tone beige , light brown colour in markets. impart more aesthetic appeal, interiors have been accentuated chrome , silver accents @ multiple points. other interesting design features metal finish centre console, new instrument cluster, blue interior illumination, etc., have been added offer more luxurious , ergonomic experience.

the i10 launched 1.1 litre 65 bhp (48 kw; 66 ps) i4 irde engine, same motor used in kia picanto , hyundai atos prime/santro xing lower co2 emissions.

i10 kappa 1.2

the i10 comes 1.2 litre petrol euro 5 compliant engine (called kappa engine), same co2 emissions 1.1l version. spark plug of 1.2l non standard.

i10 diesel

a 1.1 litre 3 cylinder diesel crdi variant available in europe, has not yet been introduced united kingdom , indian market.

i10 electric

hyundai launched i10 electric in delhi auto expo; expected available in india 2011. i10 based electric car called blueon.

i10 kappa-2 1.2

in 2010 hyundai launched facelifted version of i10 in india uses kappa ii engine vtvt technology further improve performance of engine. hyundai engineers have taken existing 1.2 litre 4 cylinder kappa engine , added vtvt (variable timing , valve train). i10 first small car in country receive variable valve timing making it, on paper @ least, sophisticated 1.2 litre engine in segment (the honda jazz has i-vtec head segment higher).

this system, working on intake side, helps in altering valve timing , lift according situation , improves low end responses , fuel efficiency. vtvt hasn’t increased horsepower , still rated @ 80 ps (59 kw; 79 hp). engine reported feel more refined , show little vibration @ higher revs
