early career

leantsiuk made international debut in 2001 @ age of seventeen. competing @ 2001 world youth championships in athletics, bronze medallist behind valerie adams , michelle carter. shortly afterwards won gold medal @ 2001 european youth olympic festival, beating mama fatty. following year improved personal best 16.47 m (54 ft 0 ⁄4 in) , came seventh @ 2002 world junior championships in athletics.

leantsiuk came third @ belarusian championships in 2003 , won national junior title new best throw of 17.44 m (57 ft 2 ⁄2 in). runner-up russian rival anna avdeyeva @ 2003 european athletics junior championships. did not improve in 2004 – first year of full senior competition – managed throw of 17.91 m (58 ft 9 in) @ 2005 european athletics u23 championships, taking fourth place. cleared eighteen metres first time in 2006 , ended year improved personal best of 18.86 m (61 ft 10 ⁄2 in). second in first league meeting of 2006 european cup.
