located in urban expanse of porto, flanked several buildings define rua 31 de janeiro, two-story building, constructed @ beginning of 20th century. west of building two-story structure, while three-story building stands wast; rear of building aligned rua da madeira.
the principal facade oriented south, along rua 31 de janeiro; structure made of golden cast iron, contours made of variety of ornate floral motifs. these crowned shell-like forms complemented decorative plant designs of rococo inspiration. includes central portico along main axis, surmounted flag, flanked 2 large undulating frames. perimeter constituted large curved pieces, vegetal or shell-like in form, decorated in center. between shell , door flag sign stating vicent. interior spaces still maintain furniture , furnishings of period including gilded counters, lamps , windows. further notable features include original wallpaper, decorated ceilings , wooden floors.
casa vicent constitutes 1 of rare examples of ironwork commercial architecture referencing art nouveau period. similar styles constructed along same roadway, including ourivesaria cunha , ourivesaria reis & filhos. ironwork comparable styles of these buildings in worked silver , polished metal.
