tipton signed indianapolis colts after going undrafted in 2014 nfl draft. tipton performed in preseason , made colts initial 53 man roster, waived on september 9, 2014, , re-signed practice squad shortly afterward. on november 22, tipton promoted active roster when griff whalen waived.


after seeing limited action on special teams, tipton played running against dallas cowboys , scored first nfl touchdown on 1-yard pass matt hasselbeck.


tipton saw first significant game action of pro football career in colts first game of 2014 playoffs, supplanting role of former third-overall cleveland browns draft pick trent richardson second running behind dan herron. carried ball 11 times total of 40 yards, , recorded single reception 6 yards. colts defeated visiting cincinnati bengals score of 26–10 in game. in afc championship against new england patriots, tipton scored first nfl rushing touchdown.


on september 5, 2015, tipton waived colts, signed practice squad on september 17, 2015. signed shortly after active roster.


on november 26, 2015, tipton again waived colts. signed colts again on november 30, , waived again on december 21.
