costanzo attended thomas jefferson high school in pittsburgh, two-time nscaa/adidas all-american, two-time regional all-american, , twice named wpial (western pennsylvania interscholastic athletic league) player of year. in 2003, named nscaa pennsylvania state player of year , chosen ea sports all-american. helped lead jaguars piaa (pennsylvania interscholastic athletic association) state championship 3 times, winning state title in 2002.
costanzo selected play region olympic development program team 2000–2005 , member of u.s. u–18 national team player pool.
he started youth soccer in pittsburgh beadling soccer club, before joining fc delco on other side of state.

having not been drafted major league soccer costanzo signed minnesota thunder on february 26, 2009. made professional debut on april 11, 2009, second-half substitute in minnesota s 2009 season-opening game against carolina railhawks.
costanzo on 2010–11 roster of baltimore blast indoor soccer team, appeared in no games.
