peekskill has embraced lincoln s appearance celebrated part of history. memorial stone, lincoln exedra, erected on south street, overlooking depot, in 1925. speech commemorated @ 50th anniversary in 1911, , again on centennial in 1961. latter occasion featured re-enactment of speech, actors dressed lincoln , nelson. lincoln society of peekskill keeps memory alive , organizes other activities related namesake.


the railroad no longer exists, , building fell vacant peekskill s industrial base declined point freight shipments no longer made; line metro-north hudson commuter line, handling exclusively passenger traffic.
