avondale college has school orchestra, big band, jazz combos, choir, chamber orchestra, soul band, rock club, string quartet, performing arts academy in classical , jazz music, , other chamber ensembles , bands.


the premier concert band 1 of major music bands of school, travelling sydney in june 2006 participate in international music festival, awarded silver award. band has been awarded bronze, silver , gold @ numerous other competitions, such kbb music festival , national concert band competition. participating in sydney s international music festival competition year college s string group spiccato. octet received silver award , 1 point off receiving gold award.


the music department provides student-based show band school s annual show. music department performs @ on 50 events in school , community each year including strong representation @ kbb festival, tauranga jazz festival, stand stand out competition , auckland school jazz band competition. public concerts include jazz , soul night , classical concert.


avondale college has been named 1 of best new zealand secondary schools in performing school shows. each occur annually , musical. in past times, school has performed plays, ended in 2000s performed @ avondale college theatre. recent shows have included grease, high school musical, south pacific, guys , dolls, oliver! , godspell, miss saigon, fame, footloose, , hairspray.


avondale college has participated in rock eisteddfod challenge (stage challenge) many years , have been placed numerous times. school has won first place 2 wins in row within divisions. each win in 2011 , 2012. in 2013, placed second overall. school has been awarded on many awards of dance , drama in competition.
