Breakaway republic Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation

on 17 march, following official announcement of referendum results, supreme council of crimea declared formal independence of republic of crimea, comprising territories of both autonomous republic of crimea , city of sevastopol, granted special status within breakaway republic. crimean parliament declared partial repeal of ukrainian laws , began nationalising private , ukrainian state property located on crimean peninsula, including ukrainian ports , property of chornomornaftogaz. parliament formally requested russian government admit breakaway republic russia. on same day, de facto supreme council renamed state council of crimea, declared russian ruble official currency alongside hryvnia, , announced crimea switch moscow time (utc+4) on 30 march.


putin officially recognised republic of crimea sovereign , independent state decree , approved admission of crimea , sevastopol federal subjects of russia.
