the center operates under auspices of ecumenical section in faculty of theology, serves resource faculty, students , guests of university on interreligious issues , subjects. center provides support visiting faculty , students in various programs, include following.
russell berrie fellowship in interreligious studies
the russell berrie fellowship in interreligious studies designed provide current , future religious leadership comprehensive understanding of , dedication interreligious ideas, issues, , concerns. fellowship invites religious leaders – whether ordained, religious, or lay – spend year in rome studying @ angelicum certificate in interreligious studies, participate in seminar , study tour in israel, , in number of specialized courses , extracurricular activities.
the fellowship “full-ride” scholarship available students @ pontifical universities in rome, covers tuition, room , board, books , travel expenses.
as of 2014-2015 academic year, 7 cohorts of fellows have been admitted program, began 2008-2009 academic year. there have been 60 fellows 23 countries , 6 inhabited continents. fellows have included 30 clergy (or seminarians later became clergy), 27 laity, , 3 religious/consecrated sisters.
fellows’ nationalities have included: australia, benin, bosnia, chile, croatia, dominican republic, gambia, greece, hong kong, india, italy, kenya, mexico, nigeria, philippines, poland, romania, rwanda, slovakia, sri lanka, ukraine, vietnam, , u.s.a.
seminar , study tour in holy land
“jerusalem , judaism: identity , challenges” study tour in russell berrie fellows participate part of program. 3 major components of include academic seminar organized , staffed shalom hartman institute in jerusalem, pilgrimage jewish , christian holy land around jerusalem , in galilee, , series of cultural meetings , programs local leaders. study tour has taken place between semesters, in february.

one of largest , high-profile events of angelicum each year since 2008 has been pope john paul ii lecture on interreligious understanding. globally-recognized religious leaders , academics have been invited each spring offer insights contemporary developments in interreligious dialogue.

every year john paul ii center brings 2-3 distinguished visiting professors rome, particularly in areas of jewish studies , interreligious dialogue. courses offer intensive, ranging 1.5 ects 8-day courses, 3.0 ects 15-day courses. professors chosen center’s academic committee. recent visiting professors have included:

a postgraduate diploma, certificate in interreligious studies offered through ecumenical section of faculty of theology @ angelicum opportunity students not qualify regular admission stl program (usually because education came outside pontifical system) enroll students in field of interreligious studies, or post-doctoral or sabbatical year of study.
the focus of certificate on methodological issues in dealing philosophy, theology, , sociology of religion, , teaching of catholic church in relation interreligious dialogue , other religions. in total, certificate represents 14 lecture courses , 2 seminars totaling 50 ects, plus redaction of integrative final paper worth 10 ects, total of 60 ects.
