during strike, publisher richard mellon scaife expanded paper, greensburg tribune-review, based in county seat of adjoining westmoreland county, had published years. while maintaining original paper in facilities in greensburg, expanded new pittsburgh edition serve city , suburbs. scaife named paper pittsburgh tribune-review. scaife has invested significant amounts of capital upgraded facilities, separate offices , newsroom on pittsburgh s north side , state of art production facility in marshall township north of pittsburgh in allegheny county. relations between post-gazette , tribune-review, during existence local print publication, competitive , hostile, given scaife s longstanding distaste considered blocks liberalism.

on november 14, 2011, post-gazette revived pittsburgh press afternoon online newspaper.

on february 12, 2014 paper purchased new distribution facility in suburban findlay township, pennsylvania.

in 2015, paper moved new, state-of-the-art office building on north shore on portion of former site of 3 rivers stadium, ending 53 years in former press building , more 2 centuries in downtown. block communications, feeling building being underutilized considering proximity point state park, still owns building , plans have property redeveloped.
