carnoustie public school, later kinloch primary school, demolished summer 2010


at start of 1870s, each church in carnoustie had own school. of these can still seen today, in former primary schools of barry , panbride, @ point schools of panbride parish church , barry free church, , phillip hall on dundee street, school connected erskine free church. these supplemented number of private subscription schools, including school in links avenue, opened in 1831, houses local scout group, , school off maule street used holyrood church s hall. these both victims of success of carnoustie free church school , abandoned. more successful school linked panmure works , private girls school in kinloch street, these made redundant 1872 act.


carnoustie public school built in 1878 near free church school on dundee street. extended several times before secondary school pupils decanted new carnoustie high school building in shanwell road. old school renamed kinloch primary school, , continued until 2006, when it, along barry , panbride primary schools, closed part of reorganisation of schools in area.
